The sun was setting as we cruised above the legendary Victoria Falls, known as the “smoke that thunders,” on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The microlight flew so low we could see crocodiles in the Zambezi River below. I was in Zambia volunteering at a lion cub rescue center.

Hi, I’m Erin

I’m a curious individual, who is hungry to learn and thrives in challenging environments. This approach has enabled me to carve an unorthodox career path with 3 degrees in political science, 10 years in global finance, a turn as a tech CEO, and 15 years as a social impact growth strategist.

Yet while industries may have changed, there was one constant throughout my career: a deep commitment to social causes and a focus on maximizing our individual and collective impact.

It is this diverse background and skill set that has made me uniquely qualified as a consultant to philanthropic organizations and pro-social businesses.

As principal of HumanKind™ Consulting, I focus on helping organizations build their asset base and achieve exponential growth. I developed these strategic sales and marketing skills during my time in global finance, working with companies such as Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and American Express.

I now leverage my talents to raise money for nonprofit organizations, foundations, and social-impact companies. Working on all sides of philanthropy from Director of Development to Executive Director to Board of Director, my experience has been recognized as a preferred consultant by philanthropic leaders such as W.K. Kellogg, Tides, and Ashoka Foundations.

In addition to asset building, I founded Summery, an AI-driven data analytic company that quantifies individual values and organizational culture. Running the company for 8 years, we counted the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Salesforce, NASDAQ, RSF Social Finance, and the California Community College system as our clients.

Named a Forbes #Next1000 entrepreneur, I’ve been recognized as an AI4Good ESG / AI Innovator by Women in AI North America and a Diversity in Tech Award Digital Transformation finalist. Major media profiles include Forbes, Forbes Women, Entrepreneur, BBC Technology, National Geographic, and NPR.

Author of the best-selling How to Be A Digital Nomad guides and the Adventure Philanthropist book series, I earned a BA from Mills College, an MA from the New School for Social Research, and a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

I enjoy all outdoor sports, especially diving, kayaking and hiking, and volunteering with humanitarian organizations that support the causes I care about most: human rights, ending hunger, healthy environments, and animal welfare.

Growing up abroad in New Zealand and having traveled to more than 100 countries, I continue to live as a digital nomad exploring our beautiful world.
